nookd.

A private nook for your photos, videos and files.

Encrypted on your iPhone before anything reaches iCloud. Only your password opens it.

Coming soon to the App Store How it keeps things private

Private by design

Locked before it leaves your iPhone.

Nookd encrypts each file on your device, then keeps it in your own iCloud. Apple stores it, we never see it, and without your password nobody can read it.

A key for every file

Your password unlocks a key on your device, and each file gets its own key made from it. Files and their details stay unreadable without your password.

Your iCloud, not ours

Sync runs through your own private iCloud, so your files follow you to your iPhone and iPad. We run no servers that could hold them.

No account to break into

No sign-up, no email, no reset link to steal. Your password is the only key, so keep it safe: we can't recover it for you.

Calm and tactile

Folders that feel like clay.

Sort by name, size or date, or drag things into your own order. Selecting presses an item into the page. Try it below.

Summer 2 folders · 6 items

Everything opens inside

View it all without letting it out.

Files open in one full-screen viewer and are decrypted only as they're shown. Large videos play straight from the encrypted file, a piece at a time.

Photos

Pinch up to 20× and swipe through a folder. Live Photos, animated GIFs and WebP play as they should.

Videos

Scrub precisely, slow down by sliding up, and keep watching in Picture in Picture while you browse.

Audio

MP3, AAC, WAV, AIFF and FLAC play in the app, with their artwork.

Documents

PDF, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Pages, Numbers, Keynote, Markdown and plain text, all read-only and offline.

Quiet by default

Nothing shows when you step away.

Blank in the app switcher

Whenever Nookd isn't the active window, a black cover hides it, so the app switcher's snapshot shows nothing.

Logs out when you leave

Go home or switch apps and Nookd locks itself. It's on from the start, and you can turn it off in Settings.

No tracking, no ads

No analytics and no advertising. The only outside service is RevenueCat, which handles the subscription and never sees your files.

Plans

Free for your first 100 files.

Every feature is in the free version. A key lifts the 100-file limit; past it, extra files keep their thumbnails and can still be moved, shared or deleted.

Free

$0

100 files in each profile, every feature included.

Spare Key

$4.99 per month

No file limit.

Skeleton Key

$49.99 per year

No file limit, for the price of ten months.

Two months free

Prices are in US dollars; the App Store shows the price where you live. Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel them in your Apple Account settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
